Barn Sale . . . . . YEA!!!

We got an early morning start today.  This sale is the best of the best and we don't want to miss out!!

I can't tell you how excited I get just seeing their signs along the road!

Our friends live in this beautiful house out in the country and they have a huge barn that is always overflowing with great stuff.  There are quite a few wonderful ladies that work so hard to find and refinish the beautiful antiques that we get here.

And here it is . . . . doors open and ready for us to start scooping up all of our favorite things.

This is just half of the barn and it looks like it is full of treasures!  The other half is just as full . . . . . I better get started!

This is just the first of our haul out!  We have a great system . . . . . . I point and Joe carries it out for me.  And then he adds a few of the things he likes along the way!

We just keep piling it up . . . . . . . there are some really great pieces this time, I know you all are going to love them!

And here is the last . . . . . Wow!  I wonder if we will be able to fit it all in our little trailer!

We better get started packing, another long day of driving ahead.  Nothing is really very close back here!

Well, we made it . . . . . . almost up to the top!  That's my expert packer in there just tying down all our treasures!!!

And as usual, Mary (the sweet mom) has a wonderful lunch prepared for us to give us a boost for the road back home.

We are so fortunate to have found these wonderful ladies years ago and I tell them all the time how much we all appreciate them!

A lot of miles but worth it!!

Well, yesterday was a lot of driving through beautiful country to get to that sale we were told about.

Just had to get pictures of some of these barns that we passed along the way for all you quilters.  They really are beautiful . . . . . . quilting is so big back here!

We finally came to the little town where the sale was.  It was so quaint, there were these little carts in the street where people were selling their produce and flowers . . . . . I think I want to live there!!!

There were already a lot of people at the sale, so I didn't take time for pictures beforehand, but we did manage to grab a whole bunch of fun stuff . . . .YEA!!!

I think we got a lot of pretty good buys!!  I hope you have as much fun rummaging through it when we get back as I did today.

One of the people we met at the sale told us he had some more things in a storage shed nearby so by the time we packed up, the sale was over and we followed him to his place.

We did buy a few things from him including  some great wooden bowls that we haven't been able to find in awhile.

So, we had a great day yesterday, put on a lot of miles, and found some fun stuff!!  As we were heading to our hotel, the sun was setting and I just had to take this picture . . . . . . not a quilt barn, but oh so pretty!!

Today will be a day of mostly driving to reach our main destination of this trip, that great barn sale where we always find such beautifully restored antiques.

You will definitely be hearing from us tomorrow!!

"Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!"

Hi Everyone,

Once again we are on the search for those great antiques we all love.  My hubby drove our truck and trailer all the way to Kansas City and lucky me, I got to fly over and meet him!

Our first day of driving was kind of sad, it doesn't look like the Kansas we know!  There has been a drought in the midwest and we saw nothing but field after field of dried up corn and beans.

This time of year we usually see lush green fields just waiting to be harvested.  In this picture you can kind of see the dead ears of corn on these stalks. . . . . .I guess we can expect corn prices to be high this year!

I think the drought has extended to antiques too!  Almost a full day of searching and nothing so far. Oh no!!!

Our last stop of the day is at some friends who live in that beautiful house across that hay field.  Looks like their field is green, maybe they have some antiques too!

Well, they had a few treasures, not as much as usual, but they did give us a lead on a sale happening tomorrow that they think might be good. YEA!!

So, I guess that's all for today . . . . . I think my chauffeur needs a good night's rest!  Hopefully I'll be talking to you tomorrow with good news!
